Research Initiatives
Smart tourism. The impact of digital technologies on business models in tourism
Objectives: Smart technologies change consumers’ behavior, decision-making in tourism operations; Emergence of new business models in tourism. Consumer – Prosumer. Paradigm shift? From business model “tourism for consumers” to “tourism with Consumers". How much the business models should adopt from online business, and how much needs to be created especially for tourism? “Mobile” business models in tourism?

Text and Data Mining
Objectives: Establish a research strategy and propose legal and institutional frameworks in the EU that will contribute to the development of innovative policies for the uptake of text and data mining for non commercial research by researchers and businesses, through the unconditional support of publishers. Promote the user-friendliness of TDM tools for non commercial research and its accessibility stages to meet the needs of researchers in the Digital Age.

Investment Readiness for SMEs
Objectives: Increase the level of entrepreneurial skills and knowledge of funding alternatives, as well as determine a higher success rate of SMEs across the EU in attracting new investment for their RD&I and business development efforts. Development of specific investment Readiness Training Programme for entrepreneurs and SMEs, and potential investors. Increase the interaction between entrepreneurs and SMEs and potential investors.

Innovation and Technology Transfer
Objectives: Develop targeted support actions (coordination and strategic planning activities) for implementing and assuming the goals of a Strategy for Capacity Building in Technology Transfer in the area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) (ICT-TT), for easier access to funding for scientific research results in the ICT-TT field and for a better commercialization of the scientific knowledge in Europe. Develop strategies for building capacities for successful ICT technology transfer (ICT-TT) between universities, research centers, Technology Transfer Offices (TTO), companies across Europe, aiming at increased finance for commercialization of scientific results. Establish a network, of TTOs in Europe which will facilitate sharing of best practices, expertise, knowledge and competencies. Improved ICT-TT Skills, Competencies & Expertise through a functional horizontally and vertically integrated European network. Develop and implement a comprehensive and sustainable strategy for capacity building in ICT-TT. Improved levels of commercialization of scientific results through capacity-building in ICT-TT.
